ABOUT ABOUT

EXPLORING THE COMPLEX TEXT OF PLACES NEARBY with Amy Demarest and Lindsey Halman

In this free workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of place-based education -- and interpret it through text, audio, video -- while enacting it in the environs of Winooski Mill. Educators Amy Demarest and Lindsey Halman will guide you through best practices in constructing a personally meaningful and socially relevant exploration of the natural and built environment of this rich landscape.  We'll discuss how to consider larger, more authentic questions as teachers, students and communities form partnerships that fuel and sustain the work, and you'll be given a handout with some real-world implementations you can use in your classroom with your students.

This workshop is experienced best if you're able to bring your own smartphone or the tablet you use in the classroom.

**Meet at Room 108, CCV Winooski, 1 Abenaki Way, Winooski VT.**
